Last weekend i was invited on behalf of Thomas Cook Airlines to attend Manchester Pride’s The Big Weekend, I was provided with 2 weekend tickets for me and a friend to go and experience the celebration of Manchester Pride! For those who haven’t really heard of Manchester Pride, it’s a celebration of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender life although there is a lot more too it than just a celebration, Manchester Pride’s work involves challenging discrimination in relation to homophobia, biphobia and transphobia aswell as supporting a range of charities and organisations in delivering projects with direct impact on the LGBT community and those living with, or affected by HIV. Each year, the money raised through events is distributed through the Manchester Pride Community Funds.
I attended on the Sunday when the headlining acts were Atomic Kitten & Dani Minogue! I must admit the line up for this years Manchester Pride was fantastic with preformances from artists such as: Alisha Dixon, Little Boots, Union J & so many more! Walking round the streets are decorated with banners, bunting and balloons, mainly in the colours of the rainbow flag which represents the whole community! There was also lots of market stalls and beer pong, so there was just so much to do and even though it is a festival to celebrate the LGBT community, i must admit i had one of the best times I’ve had in a long time, the atmosphere is just something else and the fun everyone is having is contagious! I didn’t dress up for the occasion i just kept it casual and wore my new Topshop Check Skirt and decided to opt for some comfortable shoes in my trusty Converse! I can’t wait for next years!
Have you ever been to Manchester Pride?
