Hey Everyone,

So I’ve had this post in my drafts for so long, and i just couldn’t find the time to sit down and write it, i love writing foundation reviews but i think they deserve a lot of time and effort. You can’t decide whether you love or hate a foundation with out giving it a serious testing first.. (unless you and your skin really just don’t mix with a certain foundation of course!) and this is what me and Nars Sheer Glow have been doing the past few months, we have been testing each other out seeing if we are compatible!
When choosing a foundation it takes me weeks, even months sometimes! – is that crazy? I don’t think it is as it’s something which will be going on your face for all to see and some like this one cost quite abit of money, so doing your research on blogs, reading reviews and hearing other peoples opinions who i trust before going out to buy is a must for me. For me this foundation was something i had wanted for a long time but my mind wasn’t completely made up until i read Kayleigh’s review who blogs at Couture Girl. After i had read her review i knew this was a foundation which i wanted to try for myself! – no more looking at from afar!
First things first I adore the packaging i think the glass bottle is so simple, classy and pretty, apart from the fact no pump is included which i will mention more later on, I was matched with the colour ‘Santa Fe’ it is a perfect match for me, its not dark for my skin but still gives my skin a bit of colour which is what i like from a foundation. When i bought this foundation the lady on the counter told me that this foundation works better when applying using your fingers, i have no idea why but i thought oh well you work there ill give it ago so for the first few times i applied using my fingers something just didn’t look right for me, the foundation didn’t sit very well on my skin, so after about a week of trying what she said i went back to my real techniques buffing brush and was much more pleased with the results! It’s a medium coverage foundation and it leaves a lovely dewy finish on my skin, I love dewy foundations they just make my face look more awake. While using my fingers the foundation wouldn’t last very long at all but since i changed to my buffing brush it lasts a good 6/8 hours!
The problems i had with this foundation is the fact that i does not come with a pump… I mean why? No one these days is going to pour out foundation onto their hand it’s just gross.. So off i went on a hunt to find a £3 foundation pump… every time i went to my local Nars counter they had none in stock so my foundation was left un used for such a long time as i hated using it by pouring the foundation out onto the back of my hand. I finally got lucky and they got some more stock of the pumps in.. I’ve never been so happy to see a foundation pump! But here’s another problem… once you put the pump on, your lid no longer fits on top. So if you would ever like to take this foundation out in your handbag it would spill and leak everywhere! can i scream at this foundation design now?
I think it would be much more simple to rethink the design a little and tweak it so it comes with a pump and a lid which fits on top. Other than that i have been really enjoying this foundation , i wouldn’t say its my holy grail and I don’t think that it will replace my Laura Mercier Silk Creme foundation any time soon, but it is a nice easy wearing foundation and i like the way it makes my skin look healthy!
What is your holy grail foundation?
